The Volusia is a very nice cruiser. It is an offshoot (detuned) of the 800 Intruder, which we have in our family. The Volusia is comfortable, handles decently, and is your standard V-twin. The power to weight ratio is bad (heavy bike, single carb, small displacement, think HD 883 Hugger). For power and handling within the smaller V-twin segment, think 1100cc Yamaha V-Star. If I was going to replace my Savage, that's what I'd buy, having ridden the Star, Volusia, Savage and Intruder (plus the occasional Sportster when I felt like torturing myself).
